About us

The house on Delbrückstraße

A former smithy, a merchant villa, a restaurant family. In the Schmiedehaus, three layers of time meet — and they get along well. Inside: high ceilings, warm wood, brass, the scent of the kitchen. Outside: the red awning, the columns, the square.

Turn onto Delbrückstraße in Heringsdorf and you've stepped into another era. Art-nouveau villas, red awnings, linden trees. In the middle stands the Schmiedehaus — a white townhouse built in 1895 on the site of the former village smithy, which once served cart-makers and spa guests alike.

The smithy became a villa around 1890; decades later, we brought it back to life as a place where people gather. We uncovered the rooms carefully: sanded the floorboards, saved the cornices, hung the chandeliers. Where hooves were once shod, we now cook.

Our menu brings together German classics, Polish home cooking and Mediterranean tapas — not fusion, but three honest threads that stand side by side. We cook what our grandmothers cooked, and what we fell for on our travels. Add a wine list with character and a bar that has time for conversation.

„An evening like a hundred years ago — just with better service. The Wiener Schnitzel: a benchmark. The pierogi: write home about them."

The H. family, Berlin

„The bar is a real find. The sommelier has time, the tapas are precise, the mains are honest. Our new favourite in Heringsdorf."

Katrin S.

„We celebrated our anniversary at the Schmiedehaus — a long table, everything choreographed, candles until late. We'll be back with friends."
